Again this year Barb Kent and the Advanced Placement Art students have organized a Silent Auction of chairs decorated in highly artistic ways to raise funds for the Chicago art trip. The auction will be held during the 1/2 time of the Hudsonville basketball game, February 9. Plans are for 20 chairs in the event.
Barb with members of her dedicated "Art Moms" crew.
Her chair is a loving tribute to her Mom who passed away last year.
A last check of everything before the buying public arrives. And the kids on crew eat dinner.
For anonymity, each chair has a number insead of the artist's name. Also, each chair has an "artist's statement" - a story about how it came to be, what special meanings it has, why the design was chosen, etc. And, of course, a bidding sheet!
Excitement builds as basketball/art fans pick their favorite chairs. Let the bidding wars begin!

The artist
Sorry, Mom. I bid and bid on this wonderful Garden Chair, hoping to have it to give to you as birthday gift in April. Sadly, I was out bid at the last second by (of all things) HER PARENTS. How could they be so cruel!
On a happier note, my chair was purchased by Janet Weston, the owner of a children's book store (The Reading Tree) on Northland Drive at Plainfield . Soon it will
The happy winning bidder
start its new life in the store as a place where her little customers can stop and take some "time out" to sit and read a good story. I couldn't be MORE PLEASED!
