Approaching the new building from the road/parking lot.
This is a sort of panoramic shot, with the new building on the left and the dorms on the right. The studios and the dorms are only a few short steps apart now.
Standing in the Academic Building entrance looking at the women's dorm.
The entryway into the building
Turn right through the entry and you are in the new computer lab.
These are the paintings that I did last year of the OLD labs, had framed and donated to Dr. Gillingham for the new building. They are hanging in the computer lab entryway. Soon they will have a nice brass title plaque.
The lam beams were make here on the island. The building is totally "green" - heated and cooled by geothermal heat pump from two 400' deep wells.
At the Academic Building from the beach side. Click to see a before and after shot from the same spot.
Turn left when you come through the entry and you go into the lecture hall. All the ceilings are 20' high open beam tongue and groove knotty pine.
As you come around the corner from the back of the building, you see the lake out in front of you, and look into the windows of the studios.
And from inside the studio, the windows look out at the lake and the beach.
This is the NEW and VASTLY IMPROVED Studio One. It is 15 steps from the bathroom, adjoins the computer lab and is CLIMATE CONTROLLED. There are no spiders, mice or (many) flies!!
Studio Two - this is where we have our classes and critiques.
Studio Three - This is mainly a biology lab - no art classes here. It still has the wonderful old attached greenhouse where the iguanas (used) to live, and the lizards, frogs and plants still do.
